Woodward CPC-DX Redundant Skid Mounted Current Pressure Converter

The CPC-DX 10 bar, 2 zone, redundant, has an enhanced dynamic dual transmission current-to-pressure converter skid for on-line (automatic and manual switching) service capability for uninterrupted operation to position single acting turbine valve servos in critical applications.

Features and Functions

Woodward’s redundant skid-mounted current-to-pressure converter (CPC-DX) is an electro-hydraulic pressure-regulating control valve for positioning single-acting steam turbine valve servos/actuators.

The redundant version of the CPC-DX accepts a 4-20 mA pressure demand signal and accurately controls oil pressure to precisely position the single-acting steam turbine speed control valve.

Accurate and stable steam valve control is directly related to increased steam turbine speed and load control and reduced mechanical wear on the system.

The integrated design of the CPC-DX redundant version allows for the cost-effective purchase and installation of a hydraulic assembly that provides all the isolation and support benefits of a fully segmented current-to-pressure converter.

Manual isolation valves are included in the package, allowing the user to easily repair or replace each individual current-to-pressure converter.

Both automatic and manual transfer logic is available for this skid block assembly, depending on the design of the system.

The skid block’s automatic transfer logic simplifies system design because it does not require external relay/switching logic to operate.

This minimises wiring at the converter-to-converter www.ge-drive.com and control-to-converter interfaces.

The CPC’s configurable alarm/shutdown logic allows the user to easily configure which system conditions force an automatic transfer from the master CPC to the slave CPC.

The manual transfer feature is also available for systems where the user wishes to switch between pressure converters via external logic or manual switching.

The master select discrete input is used to allow the user to easily and quickly select the desired control CPC.

An integrated oil pressure gauge allows the user to visualise which converter is in control and verify the skid’s output oil collector pressure level.

Discrete output relay contacts can also be connected to system indications (lights, lamps, plant DCS) to assist in system operating condition monitoring.

Emerson DeltaV™ VerticalPlus Input/Output Subsystem Carrier

Functional features:

Designed for SIS

Modular design for flexible installation

Allows for online expansion

Increased I/O density

I/O density for cabinet-mounted systems

Introduction to the DeltaV™ VerticalPlus I/O Rack

Keep your I/O subsystems running efficiently with DeltaV™ VerticalPlus I/O Racks.

The VerticalPlus platform allows you to integrate DeltaV SIS logic solvers www.ge-drive.com vertically, giving you the flexibility you need for cabinet design.

Power supplies/controllers and I/O carriers are modular.

You buy only what you need, but rest assured that as your system grows, you can add plug-and-play carriers-it’s easy!

The Advantage

Designed specifically for SIS. The redesigned carrier supports simplex and redundant SLS modules.

These modules communicate via a redundant safety bus, which is separate from the BPCS communications.

The VerticalPlus carrier also communicates with other SIS nodes on the vertical and horizontal carriers via redundant SISNet repeaters.

The modular design allows for flexible installation. A single T-shaped DIN rail is all that is needed to mount the power/controller carrier in place.

Fieldbus power is now independent for each individual card.

The modular design approach of the DeltaV system allows you to add I/O carriers as needed.

Allows you to expand online. Additional carriers can be added online as needed.

Increases the density of the cabinet-mounted system. Six I/O carriers can be mounted on one side of a standard 1200mm x 600mm x 2200mm cabinet.

Product Description

The VerticalPlus I/O Interface Carrier plugs into the 4-Wide Power/Controller Carrier, which provides power to the system and communication between the I/O interface and the controller.

The controller processes I/O interface information through the control module.

The VerticalPlus I/O Interface Carrier provides a separate bus field power connection for each I/O card.

The carrier is designed to support the same terminals as the horizontal carrier.

The carriers are mounted on T-shaped DIN rails. Each I/O interface carrier is supplied with connectors for direct mating together.

A single I/O subsystem supports a total of eight 8-width I/O interface carriers for a maximum of 64 local I/O interface cards.

Cable extenders are used to connect carriers that cannot be installed next to each other, allowing the carriers to be arranged in standard equipment cabinets.

The extender has two 22-pin D-type connectors and supports a dual cable fault-tolerant configuration.

Ports A and B are connected in parallel so that either port can be used.

The new Dual Carrier Extender also supports the redundant secure bus coaxial connectors used by DeltaV SIS.

The total length of the I/O bus is 6.5 metres (21.3 feet).

The VerticalPlus carrier can also be used for Zone 2 remote I/O devices to provide installation flexibility.

ABB REF 542plus Multifunctional Protection and Switching Controls

Functions

The REF542plus multifunctional protection and switchboard control unit integrates all auxiliary functions in one unit.

The multifunctional unit also has a self-monitoring function. All functions are designed as freely configurable software modules.

As a result, the various operational requirements of a MV station can be met without any problems.

The versatility of the software allows the REF542plus to be used on every switchboard regardless of the specific application requirements.

Configuration

Each protection and control application can be easily configured www.ge-drive.com via the software function module, which allows the following functions to be arbitrarily defined as part of the secondary system:

LEDs for local indication (meaning and colour)

Single line diagrams showing the status of switching devices

Protection programme

Control programmes

Interlocking programmes

Automation sequences

All functions of the switchboard can be specified in co-operation with ABB. The configuration results are saved and delivered to the user together with the switchboard.

By using the “Function Block” programming language (FUPLA), the REF542plus multifunctional protection and switchboard control unit provides engineers, in

especially non-software specialists, the opportunity to easily update switchboard operation and handling.

With the REF542plus, users can fully integrate secondary systems into a true programmable controller.

This flexibility is very favourable for defining control functions for automation sequences.

This can include, for example, interlocking of switchgear, preventing the release of specific protective functions and initiating switching sequences.

The REF542plus multifunction unit offers a wide range of logic functions so that the various required control schemes can be configured.

The required control schemes are configured. The range of logic functions includes

AND logic gates

NAND logic gates

OR logic gates

NOR gates

XOR gates

Bistable and Monostable Flip-Flops

Bistable and Monostable Flip-Flops

Timers

Similar to the free definition of control schemes, each required protection scheme can be configured by combining the available protection function modules.

For example, the following protection functions are available:

Timed overcurrent protection

Inverse time overcurrent protection

Directional overcurrent protection

Undervoltage or overvoltage protection

Distance protection

Transformer and motor differential protection

Cable, transformer and motor thermal protection

Reverse power protection

Synchronisation check

The parameters of the protection scheme can be changed via the HMI control unit without the use of a personal computer.

Additional functions can be performed using a personal computer running configuration software and connected to the optical interface on the front of the HMI unit.

These additional functions include

Parameter setting for the protection programme,

reading out the fault recorder

Viewing the status of FUPLA logic inputs/outputs

The REF542plus allows convenient local operation and is fully interlocked to prevent switching errors.

The switching positions of the various switching devices in the switch box can be displayed on the LCD display of the HMI control unit.

If the local control mode is selected, switching operations can be entered locally via the control buttons on the HMI control unit.

Switching to other control modes is only possible using the correct electronic pushbuttons.

In remote control mode, switching operations can only be performed via a remote control unit (e.g. station automation system).

For users who wish to switch locally and remotely at the same time, a special control mode, the local and remote mode, is also available.

Interlocking is also possible between switchgear connected to the same busbar system. This requires the provision of status information between switchgear and other switchgear.

The status information must be provided by a conventional hard-wired ring bus system or by the more sophisticated ABB station automation system.

Control system users can easily implement this feature: an increasingly important product feature in today’s harsh environments.

The DeltaV Smart Switch is also pre-configured to utilise features in the latest software releases, such as ARP sniffing and enhanced security features.

(The DeltaV Smart Switch is also preconfigured to detect certain man-in-the-middle attacks using features in the latest version of the software, such as ARP sniffing and enhanced port locking algorithms: ARP spooffng detection and enhanced port locking algorithms.

Benefits

Enhanced security. The new generation of DeltaV Smart Switches is based on a more powerful hardware and software platform with an increased focus on security.

The new hardware features powerful CPUs for control plane and management operations.

The software has many new features such as role-based access, secure user and password management, brute force attack protection, audit trails and user-readable event logs.

There is also a new HTML5 web interface that can be accessed through the Network Device Command Centre, making it easy to upgrade the switch software.

The next-generation switch also offers more flexible configuration options.

Improved performance. The switching ASICs used in these new products offer new capabilities

such as increased network buffers, the ability to process/forward/filter packets based on more L2 address information such as IP addresses, UDP or TCP ports, and a non-blocking architecture.

and non-blocking architecture, in addition to more powerful CPUs for control plane and management operations.

Fully managed by DeltaV. The DeltaV Switch Commissioning application automatically discovers the switch in the Network Device Command Centre (formerly the Smart Switch Command Centre) when the switch is started.

Network addresses are automatically assigned by DeltaV DCS or by the user when installed in a DeltaV 2.5 network (new in DeltaV v13.3).

Simply provide the switch name and description and select a few setup parameters and the switch will begin reporting. A serial connection is no longer required to configure the switch.

Automatic reporting of network alarms and diagnostics to DeltaV workstations. Operators and maintenance stations will automatically receive device alerts that indicate abnormal network communications.

The DeltaV Network Device Command Centre application provides an interface for diagnosing and troubleshooting network problems. All of this is built-in, eliminating the need for third-party applications for network monitoring.

Plug and Play Installation. The new generation of DeltaV Smart Switches feature a DeltaV-compatible setup that installs out of the box into a compatible DeltaV network.

They require no user configuration to fully support DeltaV network communications.

NDCC ensures that the configuration of all Smart Switches on the network remains consistent, so you never have to worry about misconfigurations affecting network performance.

Plug and Play requires that any existing switch or network device be configured for 100/1000 full-duplex communication or auto-negotiation.

Auto-lock prevents unauthorised network connections. Disabling unused network connections is a security “best practice” that helps you comply with factory security policies.

With the switch’s built-in one-click lockout feature, you simply click a button in the DeltaV Network Appliance Command Centre application to

to automatically lock all unused network ports on your system. Easily protect your network from intrusion.

The port locking algorithm has been enhanced to allow locking of multiple daisy-chained DeltaV nodes, as well as detection of new nodes within dynamically determined uplink ports.

You can also configure the switch to ignore www.ge-drive.com lockdown commands on specific switch ports if the application requires it.

For example, a port connected to a virtualised host server to allow DeltaV VMs to move between hosts.

Accessing the Console. Secure Shell (SSH) and serial connections are provided using a USB-C cable (except for the RM2040).

The Advanced Configuration menu includes a handful of settings that allow you to customise the switch for your specific use case while conforming to the requirements of the DeltaV Regional Control Network.

SSH communications provide a secure connection to the switch console.

Encryption in SSH communications provides additional security for switch operation and maintenance by protecting user credentials and preventing interception.

Full range of switch hardware configurations. The new generation of DeltaV network switches offers a wide range of hardware solutions.

From 30-port rackmount units to ffxed-port DIN-rail switches, DeltaV network switches meet a wide range of network requirements.

The extensive line of DeltaV Smart Switches is all you need to implement a complete DeltaV control network.

Emerson provides full support. As an Emerson product, these DeltaV network switches are fully supported by Emerson when used in a DeltaV network.
